About Dr. Riggins, Jr.

Murray J. Riggins, Jr., M.D. is the owner of MASC: Medical Aesthetic Skin Care in Gadsden, AL. and is a natural born healer. Healing energy emanates from him and you can feel it when you are in his presence. Helping people to feel better is his life’s work.

Dr. Riggins completed his medical school education at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee and completed a post graduate internship in Internal Medicine at Wright State University. Dr. Riggins later returned to Cincinnati, Ohio where he became Medical Director at the West End Health Center in the underserved area and later opened a private practice.

Dr. Riggins later took an assignment at the Federal Prison in Talladega, Alabama where he assumed the position of medical director in 1990. During a prison riot, Dr. Riggins was called to handle negotiations because the Cuban detainees did not trust Federal Bureau of Investigation negotiators. A consummate professional known for his ethics, compassion and trustworthiness, Dr. Riggins successfully negotiated the release of ten hostages who were rescued with only minor injuries. Dr. Riggins was awarded the position of Federal Bureau of Prison’s Medical Director of the year in 1992 for this accomplishment. Following his National Health Service Corp obligation Dr. Riggins became the medical director of the emergency department at Jacksonville Regional Hospital in Jacksonville, Alabama.

Dr. Riggins treats countless diseases and disorders with nearly 30 years of medical practice experience and has become the “go-to guy” for patients and medical professionals alike. His bedside manner and ability to comfort patients has made him sought after by all. After treating too many patients in his Alabama emergency medical practice for laser hair removal-related second degree burns, Dr. Riggins decided to blend his experience in general practice, emergency medicine and the science of laser technology together into a medical aesthetic skin care practice to better serve the community. His savvy communication style has made him a sought-after medical expert in print and broadcast media. Dr. Riggins has been featured on BET News, Heart and Soul, and the popular cable television series, Untold Stories in the ER.

It was during a college internship at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey, that he first became acquainted with laser technology and its potential practical applications. During his stint at Bell Laboratories, Dr. Riggins completed research on liquid crystals in a rotating magnetic field and has followed the evolutionary developments of the technology even as he has practiced general and emergency medicine.

Dr. Riggins has extensive training in Aesthetic medicine. He is certified in Botox, Juvederm, Laser treatment therapies, Laser Liposuction, and has now opened a private aesthetic practice in Gadsden, AL.
